ormula One heiress Petra Ecclestone and her fiancé Sam Palmer have opened the doors of their London mega mansion to the public – in the form of a 10-minute video tour – for the first time.
The couple intend to sell their palatial home themselves, and the video walk-through shows off some of the most wow-factor features of the historic Georgian mansion that Petra renovated and extended over a period of five years.
“This is the first time we’ve let cameras into the house,” says Ecclestone at the start of the video, created with Architectural Digest.
“It’s currently listed off market, and valued at £170 million,” says Los Angeles estate agent Sam Palmer.
Ecclestone, 32, bought Sloane House and neighbouring Sloane Lodge just off the King’s Road in 2010 with her then-husband James Stunt before completely renovating it — building both a basement ‘wellness level’ as well as additional upper levels.
The youngest daughter of F1 racing boss Bernie Ecclestone, Petra Ecclestone is thought to have paid around £60 million for the properties before embarking on a five-year transformation project.
The home now has eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, spanning 20,000 square feet.
A custom-made gold bar in the entrance hall sits below a crescent-shaped 150,000-piece crystal chandelier made up of bronze, clear and gold finishes, setting the colour palettes for the rest of the two properties.

Ecclestone says the panther motifs throughout the home – from small decorative pieces to a vast panther-shaped sofa – are because it’s her favourite animal. And, on describing the flashy, metallics and crystals in the home’s colour scheme, gold is “obviously” her favourite colour.
In the main kitchen, where the family eat most of their meals, there are two central islands – one with a teppanyaki grill for the family’s chef to use and one for Ecclestone to cook at “occasionally” she says.
The most spectacular feature is the five-metre-long fish tank which has 64 types of fish and is “one of the largest in a private residence,” says Palmer, 38, who is founder and chief executive of Staffing Properties.

The second property, neighbouring Sloane Lodge, is where the couple entertain guests. Chandeliers feature heavily throughout both buildings, while the lodge has a subterranean wellness level with 17-metre pool and 10-person Jacuzzi.
A gym and huge soft play area for the couple’s children also sit on this level, the latter the “height of a two-storey house” on what is really a squash court.

Ice cream lights, drawn by Ecclestone’s daughter and their design then commissioned by the British socialite, adorn the walls of one of the bedrooms; while Ecclestone’s sons share a room designed to represent the inside of a rocket.
The huge master bedroom has two dressing rooms. Ecclestone’s spans the width of the whole house and has a “tucked away”, “peaceful vibe”, she says.
The couple’s home has “the biggest garden in Kensington and Chelsea”, says Palmer who, along with running his home staffing business is also an estate agent in Los Angeles where the family now spend most of their time.
